MNHC and CPMC Announce Strategic Changes

Mission Neighborhood Health Center and Sutter’s CPMC Announce Strategic Changes to Ownership of Mission Bernal Adult and Pediatric Clinics

SAN FRANCISCO (Dec. 10, 2020) – California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) and Mission Neighborhood Health Center (MNHC) are excited to announce that the Mission Bernal Adult and Pediatric clinics at the CPMC Mission Bernal Campus will transfer to MNHC. The clinics will re-open under MNHC ownership in the second quarter of 2021.

The Adult and Pediatric clinics are located at 1580 Valencia Street, San Francisco in a medical office building adjacent to the Mission Bernal Campus of CPMC.

MNHC is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that was established in 1967 to care for families and individuals, with a focus on the immigrant, Spanish speaking population of the Mission District and surrounding areas. MNHC currently provides full spectrum primary care and preventive services to approximately 13,000 people each year from two clinics in the Mission District and a third clinic in the Excelsior District. Through the transfer of these two additional clinics, MNHC expects to serve more than 4,000 additional patients.

CPMC is one of the largest private, not-for-profit, academic medical centers in California and part of the larger Sutter Health integrated network of care. CPMC’s three campuses (Van Ness, Mission-Bernal and Davies) provide care to San Franciscans and beyond and serve as an important part of the community’s healthcare safety net. As a tertiary referral center, CPMC campuses provide a wide variety of services, including acute, post-acute and outpatient hospital care; preventive and complementary care and health education.

MNHC is a lead provider of primary care in San Francisco. MNHC is recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance as a Patient Centered Medical Home and is in a strong position to assume responsibility for the operations of the two clinics. MNHC has also earned recognition from the Health Resources & Services Administration-Bureau of Primary Health Care as a Health Center Quality Leader. As a FQHC, MNHC has a breadth of support services, including Integrated Behavioral Health, HIV care, Homeless care, nutrition counseling, chronic care management, case management, referral coordination, and health education, that support the health and well-being of the patients and greater community.
