A Note from Our Executive Director
This past summer was a productive few months for Mission Neighborhood Health Center.
We are glad to announce that MNHC will soon provide dental services for the health center’s patients. Dental health in our community is often difficult to access, which often leads to deteriorating dental health. Providing access to dental services at our health center is a step forward in increasing access to quality care for our patients. We are honored to continue to respond to the needs of our community.
As you read along you will learn about MNHC’s Hepatitis C Virus Pilot program, which under the guidance of Dr. Joanna Eveland is another example of our health center’s commitment to clinical excellence and improving access to HCV treatment for vulnerable populations. We also highlight MNHC’s group prenatal program and the impact it has on the women who often have little to no family in the United States.
In addition, MNHC joined health organizations around the nation in improving the documentation standards for medical diagnoses to better capture patient care by transitioning from ICD-9 to ICD-10, which now provides the US health care system with over 140,000 different medical diagnoses codes.
We also want to share some recent funding news that will support MNHC in increasing mammogram screening referrals in Women’s Clinic.
Don’t forget to check out this issues Activity Corner to keep up with all the other exiting news about the health center.
Thank you for your continuous support,
Brenda Y. Storey
