Community Programs: Youth Program

This year, the Youth Services department delivered the Adelante! program virtually through Zoom. We educated the youth in Adelante! about health topics important to teens, including sexual health, mental health, nutrition, and harm reduction around substance use.

Jennifer Martinez and Bex Hicks, our two health educators, were flexible and determined to make the program fun, engaging, and impactful for this year’s cohort.  We empowered the youth in the program to be peer health educators by helping them create and share Instagram posts and TikTok videos educating their peers about health.

You can check out Teen Clinic on TikTok and Instagram at @cuidateplz_mnhc.

In June, we hosted a pizza party and met some of the youth at Dolores park to celebrate their hard work and year-long commitment to Adelante!. We are proud of our cohort of youth and confident that they will share the knowledge they gained to help their peers make healthy choices.

This program is available at our Excelsior and Shotwell Clinics.
