Ladies’ Night 18th Anniversary

It was a beautiful day and evening in March at the Resource Center. The people that make Ladies’ Night possible every week and those who made it possible years ago gathered to celebrate 18 years of service to women.

Ladies’ Night, a program offered by Mission Neighborhood Resource Center, provides a supportive space for biological and transgender females going through difficult situations, including homelessness.

It is a weekly opportunity to gather, make new friendships, and foster an ambiance of camaraderie and support on issues that perhaps only women can fully understand. It is a safe place for conversations and ideas, and it can also be fun with music and other activities.

MNRC Director Mason Jeffrys led the event program. San Francisco Supervisor Hillary Ronen (District 9,) MNHC Executive Director Brenda Storey and Operations Chief Tammy Alvarez were in attendance, as well as other MNHC personnel and community leaders. Also in attendance was former MNRC director Laura Guzman, who founded Ladies’ Night. Equally important was the presence of former participants and other women who have been part of Ladies’ Night for years.

Terry Giovannini, who currently directs Clinical Operations at MNHC, was present and filled with joy. Eighteen years ago, when Ladies’ Night was just an idea, he was one of the people behind the curtains who supported the program. “There was an incredible need to support women back then, and the need persists today,” he says. “Ladies’ Night is from women to women; that is powerful!”

The 18th Anniversary of Ladies’ Night was a very nice event with great food and music, an excellent choice of performers, and guests who enjoyed the celebration!
