Women’s History Month
Women’s History Month is a national celebration to recognize the contributions of women to history, culture, and society.
Women’s History Month has its roots in Santa Rosa, California. In the 1980s, a group of women formed what is now known as the National Women’s History Project, aiming to increase women’s visibility. First, they created “women’s week,” to follow up on the United Nation’s Declaration of March 8th as International Women’s Day; and later convinced Congress to declare March as Women’s History Month.
The theme for WHM 2022 is “Women Providing Healing and Promoting Hope.” For International Women’s Day, celebrated each year on March 8th, the theme #BreakTheBias.
At Mission Neighborhood Health Center, we celebrate our frontline workers: doctors, nurses, medical assistants, and the people working in COVID19 testing and vaccination. Our appreciation also goes to every woman in the organization who contributes to providing a great service to our patients, day in and day out.
Something to take into consideration is that women’s month is about women, but it is also about the female energy in all of us!
