Creative Minds

“Creative Minds,” (Mentes Creativas) is a workshop series where art and community are combined as components of brain health. Adults over 50 learn about the brain and how the brain changes as a person gets older, and share life experiences.

We are lucky to count on researcher Gloria Aguirre from UCSF Memory and Aging Center, who facilitates the program, and with Dr. Ricardo Alvarez who spearheads this initiative at Mission Neighborhood Health Center. The workshops were held every Friday in May, from 5 pm to 7 pm in the Shotwell Clinic in San Francisco. Among other activities, people were able to paint small mosaics using their fingers, which will be part of a mural, and they also had the time and space to tell meaningful stories.
