Note from our Executive Director
I would like to announce a transition in medical leadership at Mission Neighborhood Health Center.
On May 1, 2019, Jaime Ruiz, MD, formerly our associate medical director and chief of pediatrics, became our new medical director succeeding Ricardo Alvarez, MD who held the position for 10 years. Dr. Alvarez will continue to work at MNHC as a clinician in adult medicine along with focusing on several special projects to support our ongoing clinical innovations.
We are grateful for Dr. Alvarez’s leadership for the past decade. His vision, integrity and pursuit of clinical excellence have inspired the executive team, the Board and our staff. He has provided leadership through challenging financial times, the changes in our health care system and our celebrations including the health center’s recent 50th year Anniversary.
In his role as medical director, Dr. Alvarez created several significant and successful community partnerships including one with UCSF. He exemplifies and lives the values of the organization in his passion for service, fostering strong relationships and embracing the culture and traditions of our patients and community. In large part due to the vision and dedication to clinical excellence that Dr. Alvarez has forged here at MNHC, we are today recognized as a Health Center Quality Leader.
I am delighted that Dr. Ruiz was willing to embrace the role of medical director and take on its challenges. In his over two-decade tenure at MNHC he has provided outstanding clinical leadership and worked closely with Dr. Alvarez.
Please join me in thanking Dr. Alvarez for his leadership and welcoming Dr. Ruiz in his new role.
