LABORATORY AIDE/PHLEBOTOMIST
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Under immediate supervision of the Director of Laboratory Services, the Phlebotomist/Laboratory Aide performs a variety of routine laboratory duties.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The Phlebotomist/Laboratory Aide reports to the Director of Laboratory Services.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the immediate supervision of the Director of Laboratory Services, the Phlebotomist/Laboratory Aide’s duties and responsibilities include:
- All administrative work, including transcribing phoned-in test reports from reference laboratories, collect statistics/demographical information from each patient coming in for blood draw and checking encounter forms for completeness.
- Perform blood draws on patients as necessary
- Chart all blood draws, lab results and complete current status forms and provide to Director of Laboratory Services for reviews.
- Scheduling appointments and explaining procedures to patients.
- Maintaining accurate laboratory records, such as monthly and daily reports, quality control reports and patient logs.
- Monitoring and taking inventory of laboratory supplies.
- Prepare and maintain lab room.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Laboratory Services.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- One year experience as Laboratory Aide, or equivalent training or experience
- Exceptional customer services skills
- Ability to multitask and be detailed oriented
- Moderate and accurate typing skills required
- Computer literate
- Bilingual English/Spanish required
Affiliation with SEIU/UHW, West is a requirement for this position
