The following is information about the H1N1 flu.

The flu symptoms are mostly fever, cough, chills/ body aches. Most people with the flu do fine after about a week or so with just rest and fluids, frequent hand washing, and covering your cough. It is much better to stay at home if you think you have the flu unless you are

• Short of breath/ have difficulty breathing
• If your child is not eating and is too weak to get up

If the symptoms are very severe please call 911. Otherwise please call the clinic at 552-3870 and ask to speak with the nurse or you can call the Excelsior Clinic at 406-1353 to speak with the nurse on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

We currently only have vaccines for pregnant women and asthmatic children, and infants less than six months only. The City and County of San Francisco will be doing a mass vaccination on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium at 99 Grove Street (near City Hall). This is a program run by the city and for the entire city and it is likely that there will be many people there. To remind everyone the high risk groups are:

• Pregnant women
• Household contacts and caregivers for children younger than 6 months of age
• All people from 6 months through 24 years of age
• Persons aged 25 through 64 years who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from influenza such as immune suppression, asthma, congestive heart failure, kidney disease, and severe liver disease
